Japan Detectives Club, usually abbreviated as JDC, is a fictional detective organization which serves as the main focus of Ryuusui Seiryouin's JDC Series. A subsidiary of the international organization DOLL, they are a group of 350 Japanese "great detectives" which assists the police with various cases, including L Crimes.
History[]

The JDC, originally named Nihon Tantei Club (
Due to the deaths of Rokenrou Raiouji and Noritaka Mikururma, Souji, and Kirigirisu along with him, quit the club. Many others follow suit, and only a small amount of detectives remain. Zenzou Shiranui, however, sneakily changes the name of the company to Hinoki Detective Club, declaring that the Japan Detective Club was still Souji's. Most of the former staff come back to work under Souji, who reopens the agency, operating from his own house. The club's former headquarters is then blown up by one of the remaining detectives, killing everyone who hadn't left.
After the Saimon Family Murder Case, Ajiro gives the organization its English title, and they soon after gain fame as they continue solving cases. In 1980, the JDC's new headquarters, an eight story building located in Kyoto. They become a subsidiary of DOLL, hire many great detectives and become heroes of Japan beloved by all.
Company Policy[]
The JDC is separated into 7 sections, ordered by their capabilities. Ajiro Souji is considered the company representative, not being a part of any division. To join the JDC, one must take an entrance exam, and if they pass, they will be placed into section 7, after which they have to claw their way up the ranks. Another way to join is to submit their solution to a current case, and after the evidence is reviewed, they may be placed anywhere between sections 4 and 7. Due to the risk of working as a JDC member, detectives are allowed to use a D Name (Dネーム, D Nēmu), an pseudonym used publicly. The D Name can be changed at any time, as many times as one desires. Detectives can take someone from the same or a lower section as an assisstant.
Detectives are allowed to take their paid leave at any time of the year aside from August 9, the day of the JDC's founding, during which they have to attend the celebration unless they are overseas on business. An emergency assembly can be ordered in dire situations, though it has only been used twice: during the Locked Room Lord case and the Crime Olympics case.
In 1990, in recognition of their achievements, the Ministry of Justice allowed the JDC detectives to carry Crime Investigation Permits, commonly called Blue ID Cards. Once the Crime Olympics took over and Dokuson Yuiga became representative, detectives were instead given IDID's (International Detective Identity Cards), allowing them to travel anywhere in the world at a moment's notice.
Back during the old days of the JDC, the detectives were organized under two divisions: the Shiranui Division, led by Zenzou Shiranui, and the Kirigirisu Division, led by Tarou Kirigirisu.
